Overhearing my children playing tonight brought laughter and tears to my eyes.
Here’s a little snippet…
Little Miss to Little Buddy: “You order dessert and pretend it’s your birthday. Pretend you are four. I’m going to be the mama and I’m going to be…“
She called to me and asked, “Mama, how old was Nonna?“
“95.”
She then said, “I’ll be 94 because 95 is really old.”
My sides almost split…but she doesn’t like people laughing at her…so I kept it to myself.
The funny things children will say speak to us what is going on inside.
Nonna is on their hearts this week. Little Miss doesn’t want to be 95 in her play because that’s how old Nonna lived to be and “she was old and died”. Little Buddy struggles to put what’s in his soul into words for us to understand.
It has been a great week and a difficult week all at the same time. I hope that you all had a great Christmas.

We had a wonderfully quiet Christmas…
full of reflection and fun.
We started the morning with gluten free chocolate chip waffles with bananas on top. Yeah to the man that made them for us!

Then we had a time of family worship…
read the Biblical account while we “acted out” the historical event of Christ’s birth. The children really enjoyed it.

Lit our Advent candles while singing hymns of praise to our Lord.

One of the highlights of the day. We read a wonderful book aloud to the children. If you haven’t ever read this one, it’s worth finding and picking it up. We found ours through Lamplighter.

The day finished off with a car ride bundled in blankets and pajamas out looking at the neighboring Christmas lights.
We are still continuing our count down to the Wise Men’s arrival at Epiphany. Although, we didn’t make it to Epiphany with all our gifts. We opened about half of them on the 26th. I was having a hard time waiting, sad, I know. The children were fine with the wait, “after all, Mama, Jesus didn’t get gifts until later.”
It’s been a great week full of beauty, blessings and joys that only the Father can give even when mingled with sorrows of this world.
Blessings,

I enjoyed reading your list. Your nativity set is beautiful.
