I have actually started to memorize Psalm 119. This psalm is filled with uplifting truth and is encouraging which makes it well worth hiding in our hearts.
Breaking the chapter into sections has already been done, by God Himself, it is broken up by the Hebrew alphabet; an acrostic. So the way to tackle memorizing it, is the same way we would set out to tackle a few verses. A section at a time. Verse by verse, until all is hidden in the heart.
Psalm 119:1-8
Aleph (first Hebrew letter)How blessed are those whose way is blameless,
Who walk in the law of the Lord.
How blessed are those who observe his testimonies,
Who seek Him with all their heart.
They also do no unrighteousness; they walk in His ways.
Thou hast ordained Thy precepts, that we could keep them diligently.
Oh that my ways may be established to keep Thy statutes!
Then I shall not be ashamed when I look upon all Thy commandments.
I shall give thanks to Thee with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Thy righteous judgments.
I shall keep Thy statutes; do not forsake me utterly!
So then, this is my task for the next little while. For now, I’m going to give myself a few weeks per section and see what happens. Next week I’ll start writing it out from memory here to see how I’m doing. Of course, I might end up writing that I have failed! But I’m going to try.
What are you memorizing? I’d love to hear about what the Lord is challenging you with. If you don’t have something you are working on would you like to consider joining Traci’s challenge?
Blessings.

God is so good, to break up the longest chapter into 8-verse sections! I’m so glad you’ve joined in with this. It is going to be an AWESOME journey!
Love,
Traci
“So then, this is my task for the next little while.” Mine too.
I said that I would begin to write part 1 out on my blog too, when I’m ready.
Enjoyed. Wishing you well in your endeavor
