Angie ~
Thank you for your sweet encouragement. It's been the biggest lesson He's been teaching me - the hard way - over the past couple of years.

In His sovereignty we can full trust.

When it looks like He is leading directly to one point on the journey, when we don't see the curve right before the "end result", doesn't mean we weren't on the right path. It means we didn't know that the curve was there taking us right past what we thought was the plan.

Lisa,

Be aware there is a big difference dealing with an elderly person - frail though they may be, they are very different than an Alzheimer's parent. I have been there and it broke my heart that I could not care for my mother in my home - I worked all day and my mom's personal needs were not appropriate for my husband to care for. Think long and hard and keep your mom home only as long as you can physically care for her - realizing that the point will come when one person cannot do everything physically (hence, the contraptions, etc that nursing homes have that can physically lift, bathe, etc. your mom). Also, physical safety is important - my mom was found in a field wandering when my sister-in-law was napping one day - - fortunately, my nephew lived on the other side of the field and found her.

With all that said, long after my mom didn't know who we were, she still looked forward to me visiting her every day to feed her supper and sit with her in the evening! Her face would light up and I know, deep down, she knew I was there - - something I will never regret or forget.

So, keep her with you as long as you can, but don't feel guilt when you may have to say you can't do more. (unsolicited advice - sorry about that!) And - - love her and hug her often!!
