If you are new to shaving with a hard bar of soap, it works best to put it in a mug like this, wet it slightly and use a shave brush to build up lather right in the cup. Do not use too much water or you will have runny lather. If you wet the soap and the brush, shake the brush off a little then build your lather it should be just about right.
